About Andy

DSCN4963

Although I have always had a love for Art, giving myself the label of artist doesn’t seem accurate sometimes ( perhaps a student of Art ) . A label of “painting with oils and sketching with pencil/pen” is good also.

I love to observe God’s creation of nature and especially people, this drive me to “painting with oils and sketching with pencil/pen”.

I was not able to attend college or art school because of family situations while living at home as a young person , however I did take several Art correspondence courses , Famous Artists Schools and North Light.  When I was drafted into the Army, I worked as an illustrator at Fort Benning, Georgia. When I was discharged I needed to work in various jobs to support my wife and children. Some of those employments were in drafting and design for tanks and process piping .

Unable to find employment in those fields, I  worked for myself as an illustrator. After the great 2008 down turn in the economy the type of illustrating I was doing  stopped, I started pursuing paintings of landscapes and other subjects. Primarily I paint with oils although I like casein, acrylics, watercolor, pencil and ink.

I have been  married  47 years to Kathy . We have two sons and four grand children.

My painting  ” Mills Lake ”  was selected as one of the finalist in the  ” 12th International ARC Salon ” .
